Infrastructure on the island begins to grow as well - Silk Air now flies 32 times weekly to Phuket, and with the arrival of Destination Air, Phuket's new domestic airline, Phuket is becoming similar to the Caribbean.

Phuket as an international destination goes from strength to strength - not only blessed with international standard amenities - such as international hospitals and schools, Phuket also boasts fantastic leisure activities which have become a magnet for the rich and famous; during 2006, 840 private jets touched down on the island. Rumour even has it that Madonna has purchased a property on the island - Phuket is becoming the Marbella of the east!
